A very funny political and financial drama is currently playing out between the management of Zenith Bank Pls and the now embattled governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose. The battle is epic. Few hours after the governor claimed in the media that Sambo Dasuki and Musiliu Obanikoro did not give him money for election, and that his election was sponsored by Zenith Bank, the bank has reacted. Zenith Bank has dared Governor Fayose to publish his bank statements for all his 3 accounts at the bank so the public could see them and stop the charade of dragging them into his dirty politics...

The Halliburton Bribery Scandal, regarded as one of the messiest in Nigeria’s history, in terms of the personalities and the amount of money involved, dates to 1994, when the Nigerian government launched ambitious plans to build the Bonny Island Natural Liquefied Gas Project. The total scandal sums up to $178,575,675. And with president Muhammadu Buhari ordering the re-opening of the Halliburton Bribe scandal case last year, many Nigerians are asking “how far has he gone in honestly going after the involved felons. What’s more, Nigerians are watching how effective justice can be.”

Since the death of  Stephen Keshi, there have been allegations of tussle of war between his family and some of his in-laws (Aburime family) over his final resting place, with the Aburimes insisting on burying him beside his wife, in their Benin home. But Keshi’s family want him buried in his ancestral home in Illah, Delta State. Keshi’s extended family, Onyeogu Ukpologwu Illah of the Onyeogu Family Union Ukpologwu Illah, Delta State, has now stated, in categorical terms, that the remains of Stephen Okechukwu Keshi will be buried at his ancestral home in Illah, in line with his last wish before his demise. 

41 Nigerian men were deported from the United States for drug, police and immigration related offences today June 22nd. The deportees landed Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos at about 12pm on a chartered aircraft operated by Miami Air International. Nine of them were deported on drug related offences, 26 for police offences while six had immigration related problems.

Oh dear!...why are some humans so heartless like this? Rev. Father John Adeyi, the Vicar of Otukpo Diocese who was reported to have been kidnapped about two months ago has been found. Unfortunately, it was his lifeless body that found by residents of Otukpo in Benue State. According to Fab Mimi who sent me story, the priest's decaying body was dumped at LGEA secretariat. Many villagers and policemen rushed to the place and they could not believe their eyes.

The acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris has dished out some direct orders on his first day in office, as a way of making the Nigeria Police Force to be more people-friendly. According to political watchers, this move has been long expected. Information reaching us indicates that the former Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd) has been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS). He was nabbed last night at his mega residence in Maitama, Abuja in connection with multi-Billion Dollars arms deal money linked to Goodluck Jonathan's former NSA, Sambo Dasuki.

There is an urgent need to check the speed of these inter-state buses. A God Is Good Motor bus travelling from Onitsha to Abuja was on Tuesday involved in a ghastly motor accident. Eyewitnesses said the driver of the bus had been driving at top speed despite complaints from the passengers. This speed led to the driver loosing control, causing the accident. 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday said it had made a breakthrough in how over $15bn was siphoned from the account of the Office of the National Security Adviser headed by Sambo Dasuki during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. The EFCC, which has frozen the bank accounts of the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, and the account of a company, belonging to the two sons of a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, said it had recovered evidence of the alleged illegal transactions from the banks. The bank tellers and other relevant documents, showed that the alleged scam took place between April 4, 2014, and December 15, 2014, when a total of N4.745bn was paid into the Diamond Bank account of Sylvan McNamara.

The Lagos State Government has signed an investment deal with the City of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The deal is expected to bring multi-billion dollar investments to Lagos, create thousands of jobs and transform the state, said a statement by Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde. The Memorandum of Understanding for the Lagos Smart City was signed at the Emirate Towers, Dubai, by the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, and the Chief Executive Officer of Smart City Dubai LLC, Mr. Jabber Bin Hafez.

The flexible exchange rate policy the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) announced on Wednesday has received some massive support in the money market. The policy will go into full effect on Monday. The Naira and trading at the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE) have firmed up in response to the policy. The International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Union (EU) delegation to Nigeria and the Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), among others, hailed Nigeria for the policy. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) supported the policy which he believes will bring naira back to its deserved value in addition to making foreign exchange available for those who need it.

20 year old herdsman, Isa Alhassan has been arrested by officers of the Nasararwa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly stabbing a farmer, Nasiru Mohammed, to death in Kokona Local Government Area of the state on June 1st. According to the NSCDC state commandant Lawan Bashir-Kano, the attack happened after Isa and his cattles strayed into the deceased's farm at Anguwan Arimi I Bassa village of the state. An altercation ensued and the suspect out of anger, stabbed the victim until he died. Isa has since been arrested and will be handed over to the police soon. ‎The deceased has since been buried...

The Deputy State Women Leader of All Progressive Congress, APC, in Kogi State, Honourable Debora Oyiza, has warned Senator Dino Melaye and his group to desist from creating crisis in the state. The APC Chieftain, who stated today in Lokoja while addressing journalists alleged that Senator Melaye was only out to distract the governor from pursuing the vigorous agenda of developing the state, adding that he cannot be the judge in their own case. She said the section ‎of the party's constitution which the group quoted to back their action does not tally with the provision of Article 21 of their party's constitution to deal with party members. The Deputy Women Leader debunked the allegation that the governor appointed non-APC members as commissioners and his personal aides.

Supporters of the Ahmed Makarfi-led PDP National Caretaker Committee and their counterparts from the Ali Modu Sheriff’s group on Thursday clashed at the party headquarters in Abuja. Trouble began when the supporters of the authentic chairman Sheriff, attempted to dislodge the pro-Makarfi protesters from the main gate of the Wadata Plaza national secretariat of the party. Sheriff described the caretaker members as jokers, saying they have no place in PDP constitution. A protester believed to be a member of the pro-Makarfi group brandished a cutlass, causing the pro-Sheriff demonstrators to flee the scene. Some youths even went upstairs and lock up all the offices.

*He once locked up 14-yr-old girl in his room for hours A 13-year-old girl gave a chilling account of how she was abducted, r*ped and threatened with death by the suspected serial rapist, Wasiu, who was nabbed last weekend by policemen attached to Ilasamaja division in Lagos. The incident, according to the teenager identified simply as Onyinye, a Junior Secondary School 3 student of a school around Ilasamaja area, occurred on May 24. It took several hours of persuasion before Onyinye’s parents allowed her to tell journalists her story... They had expressed fears that Wasiu and members of his confraternity would attack them thereafter. Reports by Vanguard indicated that there were several other teenage girls, who had suffered same fate as Onyinye in the porous neighbourhood.

We often forget that Jesus Christ is our biggest example of a Youth Leader, who at 33 was done and had raised disciples, who centuries later are still influencing and gathering billions of adherents the world over. My take has always been and will continue to be that Wisdom, Leadership and the Capacity to chart a path to a prosperous nation is not and cannot be the exclusive preserve of those above 40, but it is an inherent quality that providence bestows on one and the challenges of life help to enhance, refine and sharpen in one.

OJB family members claim Entertainers neglected him The respected music producer, who passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, had battled with a kidney disease for some time before he eventually had a transplant in India in 2013. However, family members and friends of OJB are not happy with the colleagues of the deceased in the entertainment industry. Vanguard investigation revealed that many of OJB’s close friends and neighbours are bitter, as they accuse the legendary producer’s colleagues of abandoning him to his fate in the last days of his life. Security operatives attached to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, including 95 presidential body guards, are said to be grumbling over non-payment of their 13-month special allowance. They are officers of the Nigerian Army, the Department of Security Service (DSS), the Nigerian Police Force, the National Intelligence Agency, Federal Fire Service and Federal Road Safety Corps. Since President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office on May 29, 2015, the State House security staff, said to be about 1,400 have not received their allowance known as Risk Cautious Allowance (RCA).

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, youths have given the leadership seven days to resolve the leadership tussle or they would take over the party. Addressing journalists at the Wadata Plaza party secretariat, youth leader, Aderemi Olusegun, said the party is bigger than individuals and warned its leaders to stop toying with its survival.

This handsome ex-youth Corps member, Daniel Oluwatobi, who lost his sight while serving as INEC ad hoc staff in Yobe State for the 2011 elections, has been employed by INEC.  The Director-General of NYSC pointed out that there was the need to review the MOU between the two organizations.
