An official of Code of Conduct Bureau, Samuel Madojemu, told the Code of Conduct Tribunal on Thursday, that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, during his tenor as Governor of Kwara State, made cash lodgment of N77m in his account in September 2007. Mr. Madojemu, who is the Head, Intelligence Unit of the CCB, said as of the time when the N77m cash lodgments were made on September 5, 2007, Saraki’s monthly salary as governor was N254,412.25 monthly.

The unfortunate story as shared online... Rukayya, a 4 year old girl from Zaria fell sick and was taken to a Hospital in Zaria. (I am withholding the name of the hospital for some reasons). After running some preliminary laboratory tests, Rukayya's parents were told their daughter was a sickler,that she has malaria.They treated her,and they left for home. When Rukayya's condition didn't improve, her parents took her back to the hospital &was admitted immediately. She was transfused with blood through a vein in her leg, because according to them, they could not find any in her hands.

The incident happened at 2 Gbagada Road, Gbagada, Lagos where Ugwunze rented an apartment on a two-storey building owned by Kolawole. The defendant is now facing Criminal charge of obtaining money under false pretence and stealing before Isolo Magistrate’s court presided by Mrs O.A. Adedayo.

Man Sentenced to Death for Bathing Wife with Acid In Lagos

An Ikeja High Court on Thursday sentenced a businessman, Suleiman Olalekan to death by hanging for killing his 22-year-old wife, Chika Egbo, by bathing her with acid. Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo sentenced Suleiman to death after finding him guilty of a two-count charge of murder and grievous bodily harm. Lawal-Akapo, while pronouncing the sentence, said: “The defendant is found guilty of murder, the defendant, Suleiman Olalekan, will be hanged by the neck until you are dead. “May the Lord have mercy on your soul.”

WhatsApp introduces new time limited feature, 'Status'

This is trending on Nigerian Twitter at the moment. WhatsApp has a new feature called Status, which is available to all users, iOS and Android. It allows people to update their statuses with photos, videos and more. These updates will disappear after 24 hours. The icon for Status is located between ‘Chats’ and ‘Calls’ on the navigation bar of your WhatsApp home-screen (as seen above). Once your Status is created, you can control who sees it by specifying so in your privacy settings. You can also discover which of your contacts has viewed your Status on a ‘view counter’ at the bottom of the screen.

Xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in SA: Protesters hit MTN office in Abuja

Suspected vandals on Thursday attacked the regional head office of telecommunication giant, MTN in Abuja stealing phones, cash and also destroying vehicle and office equipment. The vandals invaded the premises at 4 Madeira Street, Maitama armed with sticks and rods in retaliation for the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa. An MTN worker said the staff ran to safety when the vandals invaded the premises. Police men in the area were said to have mobilized and stopped the attack shortly afterwards. Also, Nigerian students have threatened to take action against MTN and DSTV if the attacks of her people are allowed to continue as usual.

Emma Hulse says she was sent home from her freelancing shift at the central London TV company by a manager who told her: “You should be on a catwalk”. The 24-year-old, who lives in Mayfair, said she was only five minutes into her eight-hour shift when her boss told her to leave. Company UNIT TV, based on Great Marlborough Street, accepted the incident happened and have since dismissed the employee who was allegedly involved, who had only been working there for three months.

43 Nigerians deported from Germany, Belgium, Italy

About 43 Nigerians were deported from Germany, Belgium and Italy on Thursday night for immigration offences and unruly behaviour, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has said. The deportees arrived through Hi-Fly chartered Airbus 330 with registration number CS-TQW at Murtala Muhammed International Airport at about 8:50 p.m. They were received on arrival by officials of NEMA, the Nigerian Immigration Service and the Nigerian Police, among others. According to the Deputy Director, Search and Rescue, NEMA, Dr. Bandele Onimode, 33 of the deportees came from Italy; seven from Belgium and three from Germany.

FG Files Fresh Corruption Charges Against Saraki

The Federal Government has filed fresh charges against the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, who is standing trial before the Code of Conduct Tribunal for alleged corruption. The Federal Government who had at the last sitting increased the charges to 17, told the court that it has filed a further amendment bringing the charges against Saraki to 18. The Senate President pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

EFCC Goes After Dino Melaye, Others Over Saraki's 'invisible' Mansion In Abuja

The APC lawmaker representing a Kogi state at the National Assembly in Abuja, Dino Melaye, is set to be grilled by Nigeria's anti-graft body, EFCC. The EFCC will invite the chairman senate committee on FCT, Dino Melaye, for questioning over an “invisible” N125 million building purportedly rented for the senate president. The property is said to be located at Plot 973, Mban Close, off Pope John Paul Street, Maitama, Abuja, rented at N50 million per year on a two-year tenancy, with fees and VAT bringing the total cost to N125 million.  Surprisingly, the building could not be traced after several searches.

40 Women Die Of Bre*st Cancer Daily In Nigeria

The Executive Director, Ovie Brume Foundation, Adeola Awogbemi, has said that as much as 40 women die of bre*st cancer each day. Ms Awogbemi stated this during a walk organised by the organisation for pupils as part of activities to mark the World Cancer Day 2017 in Yaba, Lagos. To reduce the number of women dying of bre*st cancer and to ensure that the disease is detected early, Ms Awogbemi advised that preventive measures should start early.

I Want My Billions Back; Ex-NNPC Boss Andrew Yakubu drags FG to Court

A former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mr. Andrew Yakubu, has asked the Federal High Court in Kano to set aside the ex parte order of interim forfeiture on the $9,772,000 and £74,000 recovered from him. Justice Zainab B. Abubakar of the Federal High Court sitting in Kano had on February 13 granted the interim forfeiture order for the money (which amounted to about N3bn) found in the secret safe belonging to Yakubu in Sabon Tasha, in Kaduna. The order is sequel to an ex-parte application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission seeking an interim forfeiture of the recovered money to the Federal Government. The ex-parte application was moved by Salihu Sani, counsel for the EFCC.

Journalist Threatened With Arrest for Demanding to Interview President Buhari

Security staff at Abuja House, London, on Sunday called police to arrest Tunde Oyedoyin, London correspondent of Guardian, who visited the place and demanded to see President Muhammadu Buhari and possibly interview him. Abuja House has been Buhari’s residence since he began his vacation and series of tests. Surprisingly, according to the correspondent, when he told a member of staff he had come to see the president, his response was: “As far as I’m concerned, he’s not here.” The journalist said at 2:50pm, a black Mercedes jeep arrived, and the occupant sitting by the driver rolled down the glass and asked him, “Why are you here?” The reporter said after identifying himself and stating his mission, he was told: “He’s not here, you can’t see anybody here.”

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, says he is on the verge of proposing a law which will restrict poor men in the emirate from marrying many wives. Sanusi said this in Abuja on Sunday at the 50th anniversary of the death of Ambasador Isa Wali, a former Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana who died on active duty on February 19, 1967. The monarch said he had been able to establish a connection between polygamy, poverty and terrorism. Sanusi said he would ensure that the law would be passed by the Kano State Government as a way of immortalising the late Wali who was one of the first northern elements to advocate gender equality.

EFCC tracks N388.3b London-Paris Club refunds *Consultants ‘got 2%’ *Governors ‘shared 3%’ Seven governors have questions to answer in the 'diversion' of part of the N388.304billion London-Paris Club refunds into two accounts opened by the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF). The EFCC has uncovered N19billion in one of the accounts. The other is a domiciliary account, which contains a yet unspecified amount of money. One of those invited for interrogation has admitted handing over a huge sum of money to a principal officer of the National Assembly after changing it into dollars, according to the preliminary report on the management of the refunds.

Notorious Criminal stabbed to death in fight in Abia State

Obasi Kalu, popularly known as 'Father' was stabbed to death on Friday night, 17th February, during a knife fight with Mr. Chukwu in Amaekpu Ohafia, Abia State. Father is reportedly a notorious criminal known to terrorize communities in Ohafia and on that Friday a fight broke out between him and Chukwu which ultimately led to his death. The reason for the fight was not revealed however, Abia Breaking News reported that the situation worsened after Father was killed, with his supporters carrying out reprisal attacks and burning down houses belonging to his killer and that of his family. The community members intervened and helped restore order after which the suspected killer was handed over to police for investigation.

The Nigerian Community in South Africa has confirmed attacks and looting of Nigerian-owned businesses in Pretoria West. Mr. Ikechukwu Anyene, President of Nigeria Union, told NAN on telephone from Pretoria, South Africa, that the attacks began at 4am. Mechanic Kills Boy Just For Scratching A Customer’s Car

The police in Lagos have launched a manhunt for a mechanic, Fatai Bashiru, for allegedly killing a sales boy, Shedrach Emenike, aka Chiboy, in the Papa Ajao, Mushin area of the state. It was learnt that Fatai stabbed the 23yrs old in the armpit and other parts of his body for allegedly scratching a car belonging to his customer. The victim was rushed to a general hospital but was, unfortunately, confirmed dead.

Wife of Kogi State governor and Founder of Hayat Foundation, Mrs. Amina Bello, has suggested that government should enforce the provision of wheelchairs for physically challenged children and “shut down any school which discriminates against them.” She told journalists in Abuja how close friends and some family members mocked her for having a son who has cerebral palsy. Mrs. Bello said she was advised to inject her son with a lethal substance to end his life.

Operatives of the Nigerian Police attached to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Ikeja, Lagos Police Command, have apprehended a 27-year-old suspect, Ahmed Olopade for robbery. Ahmed has gone on three operations with members of his gang successfully and was on the fourth when he was busted and arrested.  He was arrested after he and his gang went to rob Wab Hotel, located at Iju area of the state. Speaking to news men, Olopade, who claimed to be an orphan, with three siblings to cater for, said he was working as a vulcanizer at Oyingbo area, when Lekan, his friend, came and talked him into joining robbery. He said that Lekan uses a locally made pistol during robbery. Olopade said: “We’re four in number that used to go for robbery; Ibrahim, Tosin, Lekan and I. Lekan, is the leader of our gang. We were on our fourth operation when police arrested me, but Lekan and others escaped.”

Senate Slams Amaechi: 'Withdraw Your Statement''

The Senate has directed Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi to withdraw the statement he made in Ilorin during the North Central Town Hall meeting by the Federal Government in which he claimed that the refusal of the National Assembly to approve the request of the government for foreign loan that will be used for counterpart funding was frustrating the construction of the Lagos-Ibadan and Ibadan-Ilorin-Minna-Kano rail lines. The Senate in a statement by its spokesman, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, said the statement was not only false, misrepresenting and contradictory to available facts but that it also portrayed Amaechi as not in tune with the position of the government in which he is serving.

Please Come Back, mother of triplets begs fleeing husband

35-year-old Mrs. Isi Udekwe has pleaded with her husband, Matthew Udekwe, who reportedly fled home in April 2016 after she gave birth to triplets, to please return home. She said the children needs their father's love. It was gathered that Mr. Udekwe, who hails from Enugu State, abandoned his family home on Eke Street, off St. Saviour Road in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State as soon as he discovered that his wife had given birth to triplets, after a set of twins. The mother of the triplets, who are now nine months old, told Southern City that her husband had earlier informed her that he would not be able to cater for the family if she had multiple births, a warning she said she took for a joke.

SAN, Ex-Minister Arraigned By EFCC For Laundering N500m

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission today Wednesday arraigned a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dele Belgore, for alleged money laundering of about N500million. The SAN was arraigned alongside ex-Minister of National Planning, Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman, at the Federal High Court in Lagos, before Justice R.M. Aikawa. Sulaiman, a professor of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Abuja, and Belgore, a former governorship aspirant in Kwara State, were accused of laundering N500m. The EFCC alleged that the SAN and the don conspired between themselves to commit the offence on March 27, 2015.
