There was a bloodbath on Thursday in the Ipakodo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State, after some gunmen invaded a residence and shot dead a man and his two sons. The attackers, who were suspected to be sent, after killing the man, Celestine Nwokoye, and his sons, also shot his wife and his two daughters, leaving them for dead. According to The Punch, the incident occurred on Thursday on Agbose Street in the Ebute, Ipakodo area around 5am. Policemen from the Ipakodo division removed the victims’ corpses.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri, has ordered the freezing of all the accounts of Imo State Government and the confiscation of all monies domiciled in them. Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday itemised measures he said the Executive must take to take Nigeria out of recession. The measures include the partial sale of the Nigeria LNG Limited and the reduction of government shares in upstream oil joint venture operations.

Nigeria's latest debt profile has risen to N16.29tn, the Debt Management Office has said. Statistics from the DMO on Tuesday showed that the country’s total debt liability had risen to N16.29tn as of June 30, 2016. As of June 2015, the country’s total debt stood at N12.12tn. This means that within the one-year period (July 2015 to June 2016), the country’s total debt rose by N4.17tn, or 34.41 percent.

The Police in Katsina State said it had arrested a 60-year-old housekeeper of Hajiya Turai Yar’adua, the wife of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua over missing goods worth N91m. The State Commissioner of Police, Usman Abdullahi, said this while briefing newsmen on Tuesday in Katsina.
