Nigerian Stock Market lost N1.732tn in one year under Buhari

According to reports, the Nigerian stock market crashed by N1.732trillion within one year of the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government. The Nigerian Stock Exchange data showed that the NSE market capitalisation on May 28, 2015 was N11.658tn, while that of May 27, 2016, was N9.926tn. Market capitalisation is the total market value of the shares outstanding of a publicly traded company. The NSE All-Share Index also crashed to 28,902.25 basis points from 34,310.37 basis points.

Just few weeks gone after his infamous Instagram outburst on top blogger Linda Ikeji, Wizkid is allegedly in another fresh mess. Apparently, the pop star was paid to perform at an event -Safari night 3- organised by a certain Humble Entertainment in Leicester, UK on Thursday, May 26 2015 but according to the organisers, he didn’t show up. A statement issued by the company, said, “despite going through all the necessary requirements to book Wizkid which included signing a contract and paying the required fee, we have been let down by the booking/management parties.”

Mother Driving Her Sick Child Home Detained By Soldiers

A Lagos-based hotel manager, Ms Omolara Koleoso, has accused some soldiers at the Ikeja Cantonment of unlawfully detaining her for arguing with their colleague. She said she was detained for over 24 hours without food, adding that family members who came were not even  allowed to see her. It was learnt that it took the intervention of a senior officer in the barracks before the woman was released around 8pm on Saturday.

Gunmen kidnap Kwara APC Chairman, Secretary

The Chairman and the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state, Ishola Balogun Fulani and Chief Bode Adekanye respectively have been kidnapped at gun point along Lokoja Okene road in Kogi state today May 20th. According to the publicity secretary of the party in the state, Sulyman Buhari, the politicians were kidnapped at about 10am.

Serah Luka, the second “Chibok girl” rescued by the military yesterday, Thursday, May 19, 2016 was kidnapped from her home village and is not among 218 students abducted from the school by Boko Haram two years ago. The girl is one of three daughters of a pastor of the Nigerian branch of the U.S.-based Church of the Brethren, kidnapped by Boko Haram in two separate attacks, community leader Pogu Bitrus told The Associated Press.

The Federal government has constituted a 15-man technical panel to consider suggestions and contribution from all relevant parties on the N500bn social investment in the 2016 budget as palliatives to cushion the effect of the petrol price increase. CCTV captures customer who abducted one -year-old girl in Lagos

A Closed Circuit Television Camera at a supermarket in the Abule Egba area of Lagos State has shown that a woman, identified only as Mama Oyin, who disguised as a customer, strapped a  one-year-old girl, Fehintola Lawal, to her back before allegedly escaping with the girl. The footage, obtained by the police and Fehintola’s family members on Thursday, captured how Mama Oyin walked around the supermarket, as she searched for items, a few minutes before the alleged abduction.

Metuh seeks court’s permission for 5-weeks medical trip abroad

PDP spokesman, Olisa Metuh, yesterday filed an application before a Federal High Court, Abuja asking for permission to travel to the United Kingdom for five weeks to seek medical treatment. In the application, Metuh said his decision to seek treatment abroad was informed by the advice of a neurosurgeon at the National Hospital, Abuja, following the injury he sustained after falling from a chair at the national secretariat of the party on April 26th. Metuh who is standing trial for obtaining N400 million from the arms deal fraud, could not enter into the court room yesterday as he started vomit inside the car that brought him to the court. After being informed of his medical status, the presiding judge adjourned his trial to May 23rd.

Serah’s purported rescue comes barely 24 hours after Amina Ali, one of the abducted girls from Government Secondary School, Chibok was rescued and reunited with her family.

DEBRIS FOUND FROM EGYPTAIR MS804

The spokesperson for Egypt's military said  on Friday  morning that passengers belongings and wreckage from crashed EgyptAir flight MS804 had been found north of Alexandria. The plane was en route to Cairo from Charle de Gaulle Airport in Paris  on Wednesday  when it disappeared from radar over the Mediterranean Sea, shortly after entering Egyptian airspace.   The military said in a statement that it detected parts of debris and some of the passengers’ belongings while searching for the aircraft's black box, according to Reuters.

The apex maritime regulator, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), has announced a three-year Maritime Business Growth Plan (MBGP) for the development of the industry. The agency in a statement made available to NF-Reports disclosed that it would embark on its core statutory mandate for the development of the maritime industry. Director General of the agency, Dr Dakuku Peterside, dropped the hint at a maritime industry stakeholders meeting held in Lagos. The Senior Special Assistant on Security to Benue state governor Samuel Ortom, Mr Denen Igbana has been assassinated. Gunmen in the early hours of today around 2am, stormed his home and shot him at close range. He was rushed to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital where he was confirmed dead. Vanguard  reports that a new militant group,   Egbesu Mightier Fraternity (EMF),  has emerged with an ultimatum for the unconditional release the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader,  Nnamdi Kanu   and the former National Security Adviser   (NSA),   Sambo Dasuki. Kanu is standing trial for treason, while Dasuki is being tried for allegedly diverting funds meant for the purchase of arms for the military.

Aviation Officals Confirm That Missing EgyptAir Plane Carrying 66 Has Crashed

An EgyptAir flight from Paris to Cairo with 66 passengers and crew on board crashed in the Mediterranean Sea early Thursday morning, Egyptian aviation officials said. EgyptAir Flight 804 was lost from radar at 2:45 a.m. local time when it was flying at 37,000 feet, the airline said. It said the Airbus A320 had vanished 10 miles (16 kilometers) after it entered Egyptian airspace, around 280km (175 miles) off the country’s coastline north of the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria.

A federal high court in Lagos has authorized Attorney General of Federation to commence the prosecution of a business man Innocent Chukwuma, his company Innoson Nigeria Limited and four others for alleged forgery offences. The ruling by the judge, Saliu Saidu was based on an application filed before the court by Federal Ministry of Justice that the Attorney General of the Federation has taken over the prosecution of the accused persons which the prosecutor from the office of the Inspector General of Police objected.
