Cancer patient Mayowa Ahmed has died. She died this afternoon August 21st in a hospital in South Africa after battling Ovarian cancer for a while. She was flown to South Africa on August 11th for treatment after kind-hearted Nigerians raised over N100million for her treatment. Unfortunately, she didn't make it. So sad! May her soul rest in peace, amen.

The trader, Joe Fortemose Chinakwe, who was arrested in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, for naming his and inscribing “Buhari” on his dog has been released. His release was facilitated by the intervention of both the Serkin Hausa and President-General of non-indigenes in the state. Speaking to Vanguard after his release, 30yrs old Chinakwe said he named his dog 'Buhari' because President Buhari has been his hero since he was military ruler 33 years ago. Narrating his ordeal, the man said:

Shortly after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) released me from detention last week Tuesday, I said I was going to tell the story of my arrest especially against the backdrop of the claim by the anti-graft agency that I was arrested on "offences bordering on cyber stalking." The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspects who posed as soldiers and abducted a 15 year old girl in the Oworonshoki area of the state. It was learnt that the suspects – Damilola Balogun and Joseph Agbo – allegedly molest the teenager overnight and later left her by the roadside.

The Lagos state government has announced plans to remove the 4th Roundabout (Elegushi); 5th Roundabout (Jakande) and the 8th Roundabout (VGC) as part of measures to decongest traffic in that area of the state.

The Federal Government has said four of the five oil wells discovered in Lagos belong to the state. It added that the fifth oil well could not have belonged to Lagos State since its location fell outside the approved distance.

Detectives attached to Ajegunle Police Station in Lagos have arrested a man, who allegedly poured a bottle of ‘sniper’ into his neighbour’s pot of soup on Tuesday, while it was on the fire. The suspect, Daniel, was alleged to have attempted to wipe out the family of three with the dangerous insecticide because his neighbour’s wife, Saidat, was always quarreling with him for not meeting up with his electricity bill payment.

The Nigerian Navy yesterday in Lagos inaugurated 39 gun boats and 45 operational vehicles to assist the fight against criminalities in parts of the country. Thirty of the boats were built in Nigeria. At the inauguration Minister, of state for Defence, Mohammad Dan-Ali said the gun boats were fitted with appropriate weapons and anti-ballistic protection to enhance optimal efficiency. The minister was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Danjuma Sheni.

Nigeria's Former Military leader, General Ibrahim Babangida, made a shocking revelation of how he nearly killed his wife, late Maryam at Dodan Barracks, Lagos, in the course of his military career. Babangida, who disclosed this while interacting with journalists at his Minna Hill Top mansion as part of activities marking his 75th birthday yesterday, added that he is not as evil as many people have been made to believe.

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a medical doctor, Hassan Yakubu, for his alleged role in the removal of the kidney of a 24-year-old male patient in his clinic. The arrest of the medical doctor, the police said, was to help with their investigations into the alleged theft of the kidney of the 24-year-old male patient levelled against the doctor. Kidney theft? The command’s Public Relations Officer, Othman Abubakar, confirmed the arrest of the doctor. He said the doctor was interrogated by officers of the command's criminal investigations department. The incident, Punch reports, had now left the 24-year-old victim, Isa Hamma, in a life – threatening condition, due to alleged medical lapses on the part of the medical doctor who treated him for stomach complications. Isa, whose kidney, according to his relative, Umaru Hammanseyo, was allegedly removed, owing to medical errors on the part of the doctor, had been placed on a weekly dialysis at a Medical Centre.

The leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday was confused on whether to monitor or stay away from Wednesday’s (today) national convention of the PDP. Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court, Abuja on Tuesday had insisted that the PDP must stop its planned national convention. The judge gave a stern warning to the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahood Yakubu, not to monitor the convention. He ordered the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to enforce the court’s order.

A source shared this interesting info and calls it CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele’s Report:  “It is either I do not understand economics and how exchange rates work or a vast majority of us Nigerians still don’t get how we have wrecked our country with our own curious choices. Some people just like attracting problems to themselves. A 30-year-old Igbo trader has been arrested by the police in Ogun state for naming his pet dog 'Buhari'. The man, Joe Fortemose Chinakwe of No.10 Omikunle street Sango-Ota, Ogun State, was reportedly arrested last weekend, after one of his neighbours of Northern extraction complained bitterly that he named his dog after his father, Alhaji Buhari.

The Nigerian Military on Tuesday in Abuja said that no fewer than 8,000 Boko Haram members had voluntarily surrendered to its “Operation Safe Corridor” in the North-East. The Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar disclosed this at a lecture organised by the FCT Correspondents’ Chapel of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ).
