Jonathan Blasted For Saying Dasuki Didn’t Steal $2.1Billion

Condemnation have greeted comments by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan that his National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, did not steal $2.1bn contrary to the accusation by the EFCC. Sambo Dasuki is currently being prosecuted by the anti-corruption agency. Jonathan had said it's inconceivable to say that Dasuki stole $2.2bn, contending that his government, where Dasuki served as NSA, bought warships, aircraft and some equipment for the military.

EFCC Reacts: Fani-Kayode Didn't Collapse In Our Custody

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have debunked reports by Femi Fani-Kayode's media aide, Jude Ndukwe, that the former spokesman of Goodluck Jonathan’s Campaign Group, Mr Femi Fani- Kayode, slumped yesterday at their premises. In a quick rebuttal, EFCC dismissed Ndukwe’s claims, saying there was no truth whatsoever to them. The spokesman for EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren said:  “There is no truth whatsoever in the dubious and attention-seeking alarm that Fani-Kayode slumped and was revived by EFCC medical personnel. There was nothing like that as the said Fani-Kayode and Obanikoro sat together and enjoyed their jokes at the first round of checks of inmates in EFCC custody on Monday night."

Workers of Pharmaceutical Company Steal Drugs Worth N56m

The Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos, has arrested three workers of Peakins Pharmaceutical in Lagos, for allegedly stealing drugs estimated at N56m. The suspects are Emmanuel Okechukwu, Ikechukwu Orji and Chisom Azubuke. Two others, who were estate security guards, Uchechukwu Ofoepeka and Goddy Ogobi, were named as accomplices. All five guys are now in police custody. It all started when the owner of the company, Isaac Ugwu, caught one of the workers, Okechukwu, with a carton of a drug valued at N400,000.

State governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress on Monday expressed their displeasure on how they were being sidelined in the choice of those being given federal appointments in their states by President Muhammadu Buhari and his kitchen cabinet. The governors protested to Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at a meeting they had at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Many of the governors are very angry.

Another Ambassadorial Nominee Rejects His Nomination

Mr. Usman Bugaje, an ambassadorial nominee from Kastina state, has turned down his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari. Bugaje is the second nominee to turn down the appointment, after Pauline Tallen, former deputy governor of Plateau state, turned it down as well. While Tallen announced her decision to decline the appointment in public, Bugaje prevailed on by top government officials not to announce his rejection of the offer in the media. Tallen had rejected her nomination on the grounds that there was no “proper consultation”. She had also explained that her decision was done in fairness to other parts of the state.

Pres. Buhari, APC Govs In Closed-Door Meeting

President Buhari is currently in a closed door meeting with APC governors. The meeting is being held at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. Amongst the governors in attendance are the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, governors of Adamawa, Plateau, Kogi, Kaduna, Edo, Ogun, Kano, Kebbi and Benue States. Others are to join the meeting later. The reason for the meeting is yet to be disclosed.

Chief Izuchukwu, a successful businessman, who is into exporting of goods, reportedly died in his sleep on Sunday October 23rd, just two month after his coronation, leaving behind his wife and three children.

Speaking in Lagos at the weekend, the Political Economist said recession does not happen in an economy overnight, arguing that it must have given policy makers enough warning before unleashing its venom on the economy.

NJC Trying to Stop Exposing of Petitions Against Judges

The National Judicial Council is set to bar media reportage of the allegations of misconduct levelled against judges and employees of the judiciary. This is contained in the National Judicial Policy to be launched by the NJC today. If allowed, the policy will widen the dark veil that shields disciplinary proceedings against judges. Under the new policy, NJC or any institutions of the judiciary shall discard a complaint sent against a judge or employee of the judiciary for investigation if after receiving the complaint it is leaked or discussed in the media.

Police in Ogun State has arrested a suspected kidnapper, Odele Tosin, for allegedly masterminding the kidnap of a 12-year-old girl, Eniola Oyekanmi, in the Ketu area of Lagos. FG Set For Trial of Arrested Supreme Court Justices, Others

 The Federal Government is set for the prosecution of two Supreme Court Justices and 7 other judges in spite of memos written by 3 of them to Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed. The charges against the judges are now ready, following conclusion of investigation by the DSS. Also, according to The Nation, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has started probing the accounts of six judges of the Federal High Court who are undergoing interrogation. The anti-graft commission has allegedly discovered payment of bribe sums/financial assistance into the accounts of two of the six judges.

Customs Sack 4 Deputy Comptrollers, 25 Senior Officers

Less than a week after sacking 17 junior officers, the Nigeria Customs Service has announced the dismissal of 29 senior officers, including four deputy comptrollers and five assistant comptrollers.
