Policemen attached to the Sapele Police Station, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, have arrested a 54-year old man,  Mr. John Onose, for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl.  Onose is said to be an aide to the Delta House of Assembly Speaker, Monday Igbuya. SaharaReporters learned that Onose, on Tuesday, allegedly lured the victim, a KG2 pupil, to a bush close to his home at Fovie Street, Sapele, and raped her.

The highly revered Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and his wife Olori Wuraola visited the Cape Coast Castle of Slaves in Ghana, among other places. 

The Word of Faith Christian Centre in Kano, was thrown into mourning when a learner driver, Gloria Okocha, accidentally crushed another member of the church, Remi Nwokolor, to death on Friday. The tragic incident took place at Nomansland, Sabon Gari, Kano.

 Nemesis caught up with these four young teenagers who are said to be trading in human parts.  They  were arrested yesterday by operatives of Criminal Investigation Department, CID, of Akwa Ibom State Police Command, when the suspects went looking for a buyer of a human skull in their possession.  The suspects are Emmanuel Edet Ikot, 17, from Edeabasi, Oron; Ubong Udong, 18; Bright Effiong Okon, 19 and Okon Ita, 20, from Orukim.

Elder statesmen, lawyers comment on whether or not treasury looters should get capital punishment: Yes, capital punishment is necessary. But that should depend on the level and degree of the offence. Some categories of corruption should carry the death sentence, if that is the only thing that can serve as deterrence. This is because selfishness has become extremely high. Kemi Nelson denies collecting N75m from Remi Tinubu to organize a protest against Dino Melaye Yesterday Dino Melaye shared a post on his Facebook wall alleging that his colleague, Remi Tinubu had given Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kemi Nelson N75million to organise a rally against him. Reacting to the report, Kemi Nelson said it was false. In a statement she personally signed and released today July 19th, Nelson said she doesn't need to collect money from Remi Tinubu or her husband, Bola Tinubu whom are her mentors, to stage a protest. She however confirmed that she and a group of women will be staging a protest in Abuja tomorrow against Dino Melaye

Over the weekend, this Senior Secondary School 2 student, Michael Tanko pictured above, was stabbed to death during a friendly football match between youths in Okota, Lagos state. It was gathered that the young boy was playing the match with his mates when he got into a disagreement with one Kayode Babayanju who stabbed him in the hollow of his left elbow. Vanguard reported that trouble started when youths from Taiwo street came to meet youths of Oseni Liade Street who were playing football with boys from their neighboring street.

Benjamin Ogunbodede, a TV and film producer, has narrated how police officers in Lagos followed him to the ATM to collect a N10,000 bribe last Saturday July 16th. Benjamin, who shared the shocking experience with SR, said he was on his way home on Friday July 15th when he picked up a lady who was going his way. As he approached his destination, he drove into a checkpoint mounted by mobile policemen. He was puled over and asked to hand over his drivers license which he gave to them...

The immediate-past Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, on Monday in Abuja, denied taking away 24 police vehicles as alleged by his successor, IGP Ibrahim Idris. He described the allegation as lies. The ex-IGP also denied getting any letter from Idris after leaving office, adding that he (Arase) had been in the United Kingdom since his retirement. Mr. Arase made the clarification in a statement he signed on Monday from the UK, where he said he had traveled to for his son’s graduation.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says it has made a breakthrough in the 'corruption' case against Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State and his associate, Mr. Abiodun Agbele. His man, Agbele, who is currently in the EFCC custody, was said to have received N1.219bn from a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, on behalf of Fayose during the build-up to the Ekiti governorship election in June 2014. However, EFCC detectives disclosed that Fayose used a large portion of the N1.219bn along with some money from the Ekiti State coffers to buy houses in Lagos and Abuja which have since been seized by the anti-graft agency.

The dreaded militant group, Niger Delta Avengers, have blown up crude oil trunkline belonging to Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria in Batan, Warri South-West area of Delta State. It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 12.05am on Monday. The fresh attack happened around Camp 3, few kilometres away from the spot where the militants had recently also attacked oil installations early this month.

A former Acting Chairman of the Oyo State chapter of National Union of Road Transport Workers, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, popularly called Auxiliary, has sentenced to six years imprisonment for conspiracy to murder. Auxiliary was sentenced by Justice Eni Esan of Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan. Also jailed were Saidi Kareem, Abu Kareem and Kazeem Kayode.

Why does this man Dino Melaye derive pleasure in talking about another man's wife? The other time he described Mrs Stella Oduah as 'robust', now he's quoted here as describing President Buhari's wife as 'Sexy'. I think those close to Dino should call him to order. Such reckless talks are not necessary.

When you hear the word "ghost workers" just know that living humans are behind it. The Ministry of Finance has said the list of those involved in the manipulation of government payroll and allegedly injected ‘ghost’ workers had been sent to the EFCC for investigation and prosecution. The development was confirmed by the Media Adviser to the Minister of Finance, Mr Festus Akanbi. He told Punch that, "The ministry has sent the list of those involved in the ‘ghost’ workers scam to the EFCC and they (EFCC’s operatives) are the ones investigating the matter.”

In the face of provocation, including a childish visit by Dino Melaye to the streets where she lives in the city of Lagos, Senator Remi Tinubu, wife of APC national leader Asiwaju Tinubu, has acted very mature. She hasn't said anything or attacked Dino in the social media as he has been doing. She just took the right step by contacting Police IG, considering Dino's antecedents of violence...

After claiming ex-NSA Sambo Dasuki do not like him, former SSA on Public Affairs to Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has finally opened up that the embattled Dasuki actually gave him N100m on the instruction of the former president - Jonathan. Okupe, who served as Jonathan’s spokesman from 2012 to 2015, also confessed that he received N10m per month from Dasuki to pay salaries and run a weekly programme on NTA.

64yrs old Isaac Olawuyi has been in a coma for about a week, due to an accident he had while working on some electrical faults in the Oregun, Ikeja office of John Holt Plc. Isaac, a casual worker, was alleged to have been abandoned by the company and efforts by the family to get financial support from the big company had been abortive. Dr. Sanusi Ibrahim, the Medical Director of San Hospital and Maternity Home on Falemora Williams Avenue, Oke Adiyan, Ogun State, where he was admitted, told Punch that the victim’s case was critical. He had been referred to a general hospital. The family, which still had a medical bill of N40,000 to pay, could not raise money to transport him to the general hospital.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday presided over the State Executive Council Meeting held at the VIP Chalet in Badagry, just as he said that his administration has fine-tuned plans to make the ancient town of Badagry a hub of tourism and resort enterprise in Africa within the next 18 to 24 months.

The gruesome killing of a female evangelist, Eunice Elisha, in Abuja on Saturday is the latest episode in an ongoing escalation of sectarian hatred in Nigeria. It raises real fears that Islamist fanatics and their sponsors are spreading their murderous tentacles from the Northern states to the Federal Capital Territory. Their jihad is made easier because successive governments have abdicated their responsibility to make every part of the country safe for Nigerians of all faiths or punish offenders.
