The Transition Monitoring Group (TMG) – a coalition of over 400 civic organizations – has revealed that the agents of former President Goodluck Jonathan offered it a bribe of N2billion for the purpose of compromising the outcome of the 2015 elections. The bribe came by way of what TMG chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Zikirullahi, branded a dubious proposal. His words: "Specifically, some errand boys from the Presidency at the time came to us with a dubious proposal that 50,000 agents of the PDP be fielded as TMG observers. “In financial terms, the errand boys expressed the Presidency’s readiness to fund the fraud with the sum of Two Billion Naira.”

Strong indications have emerged that the military high command is set to come up with a joint operation involving the various security agencies against the menace of Fulani herdsmen in the country. These are troubling times for Bukola Saraki. The embattled senate president is losing grounds. 20 parties which included Labour Party (LP) have urged Saraki to avail himself of the opportunities offered in our laws to clear his name, and stop trying to frustrate his trial with many injunctions. Members of the parties made their position known at a press briefing in Abuja, on Wednesday. There seems to be more trouble for former Petroleum Resources Minister Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is probing her involvement in a $115m (N23,299,705,000billion) 2015 election bribery scandal. The anti-graft agency has detained two bankers in connection with the scandal. Already, EFCC has launched a manhunt for Ugonna Madueke, the former minister’s son. Besides, four companies implicated in the bribe-for-results scandal during the 2015 general elections are under probe. The companies are: Northern Belt Gas Company Limited; Auctus Integrated; Midwestern Oil and Gas; and Leno Laitan Adesanya.

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered security chiefs to hunt down those who perpetrated the attack on Ukpabi Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani area of Enugu State on Monday. President Buhari gave the order in an address delivered on his behalf by the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, at the public presentation of a book, entitled “Who will Love My Country: Ideas for Building the Nigeria of our Dream”, written by Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, in Abuja. The President’s words: “Before making my remarks about the book, let me use this platform to condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the attack perpetrated on the Ukpabi Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani area of Enugu State on Monday. I deeply sympathise with all those who lost dear ones, as well as those who lost their properties in the attack.

President Buhari today had a meeting with members of the Nigerian Governors Forum at the state house Abuja today April 28th. 

A civil society organisation, Citizens United for Peace and Stability, staged a rally at the National Assembly on Tuesday, demanding “immediate resignation of Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki”. The protesters, who called themselves #OCCUPYNASS, criticised the purchase of brand new 36 exotic Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) for the senators. They insisted that the “exorbitant vehicles” must be returned.

No fewer than 150 females were raped, while 31 babies were abandoned on the streets of Lagos in the last one year. The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, said this at a press briefing in Ikeja on Tuesday. Akinbile-Yussuf explained that 150 reported cases of sexual and physical abuse were officially recorded, while five pregnant schoolchildren were assisted to access adequate ante-natal and delivery services and were also integrated back into school.

Comptroller Dimka, V.D handed over the two suspects (Mr. Abdullahi Ismail and Mr. Valentine Malizu) who were arrested for being in possession of forty (40) wraps of substances suspected to be illicit hard drugs concealed inside cartons of crayfish. The seized drugs weight about 43.4kg with a value of N412,300.00.

The Chief Believing Officer, Orbus Global Solutions, Aisha Bello-Tukur, has called on wealthy individuals and corporate organisations to initiate programmes that will improve the standard of living of rural residents. Such moves, Bello-Tukur said, would help to prevent the outbreak of diseases and infant mortality. She made the appeal at a recent programme organised to mark the World Malaria Day in Makoko, Lagos.

A top official in EFCC says contrary to reports, the arms deal scandal is $15 billion not $2.1billion.  Daily Trust  reports that the EFCC official who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the $2.1 billion that has been linked to former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, is just one transaction out of the $15 billion arms deal fraud;

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has seized two houses belonging to Senator Nenadi Usman who was the Director of Finance of the Goodluck Jonathan presidential campaign organisation. The EFCC had arrested Usman last week after it was established that N2.5bn was paid into her firm account, Joint Trust Dimensions Limited, and N140m cash was paid into her Zenith Bank account. The said transfer, which emanated from the Central Bank of Nigeria, took place in January 2015, during the build up to the presidential election.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission made staggering discoveries in the process of investigating the fraud relating to the diversion of $2.1bn meant for fighting the war against Boko Haram. The EFCC had discovered that the total anti-insurgency money looted by "big men" was over $15bn. The $2.1bn represents the arms cash placed under the Office of the National Security Adviser, then headed by the immediate past NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

The National Assembly Service Commission says there is no basis for withdrawing the appointment of the newly appointed acting Clerk of the National Assembly (NASS), Alhaji Mohammed Sani-Omolori. The Executive Chairman of the commission, Dr. Adamu Fika, said this in a letter he sent to the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, and copied to Speaker of the House of Reps, Yakubu Dogara. Fika said that the decision to appoint Sani-Omolori as acting Clerk instead of the current Deputy Clerk was because he would himself proceed on Terminal leave on August 2.

Embattled National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, slumped at the National Secretariat of the party at Wadata Plaza in Abuja on Monday. Metuh, who's been trying to frustrate his trial after tearing and attempted to chew his confessional statement made to the EFCC while undergoing interrogation, was rushed to the hospital. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, late on Tuesday met behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari. The meeting, which was held inside the President’s office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, was believed to be part of efforts aimed at resolving the 2016 budget controversy. Embattled senate president Bukola Saraki did not attend the meeting which lasted about 30 minutes.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has directed the EFCC to probe the circumstances surrounding a "deal" reached by his predecessor, Mr. Mohammed Adoke (SAN), not to prosecute a firm, Tidex Nigeria Limited, suspected of an alleged crime. The directive by the AGF to EFCC was informed by a petition written by an Abuja-based lawyer, Max Ogar, who alleged that Adoke as the then AGF in 2011, exempted Tidex, otherwise known as Tidewaters, from prosecution after committing an offence of “importing toxins into the country”.

The people of Ukpabi Nimbo, a community in the Uzo-Uwani area of Enugu State, which was attacked by Fulani herdsmen on Monday, have blamed security agencies for failing to act on “credible” information they provided before the attack. The villagers, who said this when the state Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, visited the community on Tuesday, said they were abandoned even after they alerted security agencies of the plan to attack them. The General Officer Commanding, 82 Division, Enugu, Major General Attahiru Ibrahim, and the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State, Nwodibo Ekechukwu, were also in the village on Tuesday.

The Department of State Security DSS has arrested the Special Assistant to the Senate President on Youth and Student Matters and President of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Barrister Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, according to a report by Vanguard. The brother of Ugochinyere, Obinna Ikeagwuonu, released a statement, informing the public of his arrest. The statement in part reads;

The Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical company says it will begin 2 million liters of petroleum products today April 27th. According to the management of the company, the refinery will get its supply of crude from Escravos, Delta state and then begin refining immediately. This is part of efforts to increase the supply of fuel nationwide.

The annual festival is called Ma'nene festival which translates to 'the Ceremony of Cleaning Corpses'.
